Happy New Year!

This was the third consecutive year that I did not go to a New Years Eve party. Not That I have ever gone to a real New Years Eve Bash: I have definitely had a lot more fun than sitting at home and watching other people at New Year's Eve parties, though. I will have to work on ending that streak next year.
This New Years has been thought provoking. If someone had told me that, I would be in farm country marveling at the size of the ant-hills at this time last year, I would have laughed at them...
This is such a stretch from what I am used to that it caused me to think about the past and some outrageous situations that i have seen or been around. I have come to the conclusion that a lot of it happens because of a combination of a "F*** it, why not!" attitude combined with the fact that No matter what was going on, someone not-too-far away was always doing something even more outrageous.
I used to hang out at certain coffee shops for hours, but there was always that guy who took it to the next level. I remember a guy at a coffee shop who had 2 laptops and a printer set up at a table and was trying to teach himself Linnux. Why was he doing that? "Cause f*** it, why not?!" Is the only reason that I can come up with. I wonder who he was looking at that made him think, "This is nothing compared to what that guy is doing..."
